Vinyl’s finally up at SPiN !!!

Last April my lovely friend Pamela commissioned me to draw her a very feminine and delicate tattoo design.
Remember this guy?
I was super happy with the design and even happier that Pam loved it. Flash forward to a week ago… she finally found the right tattoo artist to make this permanent. She went to the incredibly talented and awesome Damian Campagnaro to get the job done!!!
I’m floored by how true to my drawing he was and can we talk about the FINE LINES?!?!?!? The water drop on the rose? and the bird’s eye.. THE BIRD’S EYE!?!?!?! This picture doesn’t do it justice… but I’m SO happy about how it turned out and even happier to have Pamela’s back for the rest of her life!
A while back I joined up with Mike Echlin- he first showed my work in his OMY gallery. He has been a strong supporter of my work and has brought me on board with his Illustration Agency CTY. He’s always got some idea cooking and now he has opened a vinyl division within the agency, where artists work is blown up and printed on vinyl decals. The effect is pretty crazy. It’s a statement mural that you can move throughout your space and even pack up and move to a new space.
Soon CTY artist’s work will be adorning the walls of Susan Sarandon owned SPiN PingPong Social Club.
This is my offering….

I can’t wait to see this image blown up to 6ft! yowza!
Next week I will be going down to SPiN to shoot photos of the install and all the amazing walls with amazing art!
p.s. Sorry it’s been so quiet on the blog.
I love when people are thoughtful and considerate gift givers. It’s an art in it’s self, but it really does drive the saying “it’s the thought that counts” home.
My friend Jess had approached me a couple times to draw up some pet portraits for his lovely girlfriend Vanessa. It always seemed like we were conspiring about it – I suppose we were a little bit, but the timing was never right…until this time around.
For their new apartment, on her birthday….
UPDATE…..
Here they are all framed up and hung at Jess and Vanessa’s!
New pieces in the Birds & Babes series I’m working on. All 9×12 watercolour.

Magpie and Roses based on a tattoo design I drew.
A nod to the amazing Thomas Hooper on this one.
I got the chance to paint a mural for a friend and his wife. They’re expecting their first baby next month and are getting the bambino’s nursery ready. Minty green walls, orange gingham curtains and a bright citrus giraffe!! It was such a great experience painting this for them. I hope I get the chance to do more work like this.
Having never done a mural of this size, I was somewhat surprised by how unintimidated I was. Usually when faced with such a unique canvas I tend to get a bit precious. I think I was just so excited to get going that it ended up being a lot of fun. Only by the 12th hour of working did I notice the time (that and my hands kept cramping up….)
This is the design I drew in illustrator.
Using my design I sampled colours with the Benjamin Moore iphone App. Honestly, I love my iphone!
Lay out and throw up…..
for hours……

Closeup of the wobbly lines and the purple hippo! He’s the best part.
